ABOUT SECRET GARDEN MONTESSORI
Secret Garden Montessori is an independent, non-profit school located in Frenchtown, NJ currently offering programs for children from 18 months through 6 years old. Our programs are rooted in authentic Montessori philosophy with a focus on engagement with our beautiful river valley and it’s beloved community. Also known as Peace Education, Montessori inspires the development of respect for self and others and helps to cultivate independence and an understanding of the interconnectedness of all things. Our dedicated staff members have a depth of experience and passion for the Montessori philosophy and practice. Their contributions enable us to fulfill our school's mission to ‘nurture each child's ability to be a compassionate, critical thinker who is holistically prepared for the future.’
Our Learning Experience
Learning at Secret Garden Montessori is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a lifelong love of learning. A typical day at Secret Garden Montessori begins with a three-hour uninterrupted work period, during which time the children are free to concentrate on activities of their choosing. The children spend part of each day outdoors and when weather permits, bring their lessons outdoors.
Our History
Secret Garden Montessori has its roots in
a home-based cooperative founded in 2006
by a group of families in the Delaware River Valley. In January 2009, we were delighted to open our doors in Frenchtown, NJ. We have expanded our classroom space twice since 2009 and continue to grow.
